Classified as a historical monument and awarded 1 Michelin star, Château de Mauriac (13th century) invites you to an evening steeped in history, heritage, and artistry.
Nestled in the heart of the Tarn, within the triangle of Albi-Gaillac-Cordes, this château was originally commissioned by Guiraudus de Mauriaco, a Templar knight. Over the past half-century, the painter Bernard Bistes and his family have overseen its restoration, which has breathed new life into its ancient walls. For decades, they have melded their love for art and history with their expertise in construction and decoration, passionately restoring the château, including rebuilding its medieval ramparts.
Your journey begins with a guided tour led by the châtelain and his team. Explore this exceptional site, once home to Alexis Tapié de Celeyran, a young cousin of the renowned painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Throughout your visit, immerse yourself in an exhibition showcasing the paintings of Bernard Bistes.
Following this, indulge in a gala dinner celebrating local cuisine and wines, served in the magnificent grand hall of the château.
